ShivaniMathur
Although she has painted consistently and regularly since the age of five, it was only recently that ShivaniMathurbegan to identify herself as an artist.
Defying convention, in her early twenties, she had chosen a career in the all male world of investment banking where she learnt was that if a woman wants to shatter the glass ceiling she has to shatter glass. She became increasingly interested in social justice, unpredictable human behaviour, equality and the status of minority. Through art, she continued to explore cracks and gaps - not as fault lines, but as pathways that let light in - a light has potential to shows us the path for the emergence of new paradigms. Her work questions: Is what is not seen more potent than what is seen? Shivani currently lives in London and works with wasted and discarded glass, mirror, eggshells. Shivani’s work has been exhibited widely since 2008 , both in the Uk and internationally in venues such as Bonhams, Covent Garden, Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, at Bozar in Brussels and private exhibitions in Seattle and in India. |
