"A Grain of Salt", an exhibition on the life, influences and values of Mahatma Gandhi was exhibited at India House, Aldwych, London, the iconic headquarter of the Government of India in the UK.
The exhibition celebrated the 150th anniversary of Gandhi's birth. The paintings were portraits of Gandhi and Kasturba and other eminent personalities who influenced him and were influenced by him. There were also large abstract canvasses depicting the values Gandhi brought to the world. This is the signature painting of the show called "A grain of salt" painted in oil and salt crystals and resin. It is inspired by the Salt March that marked the beginning of the civil disobedience movement which was a key turning point in the Non violent Indian revolution. Gandhi showed the world that moral rather than physical aggression can also bring about social change and justice. |
